New Solid Waste Disposal Contract Will Save Millions
Westport has successfully completed a novel negotiation related to the disposal of solid waste. The contract will save the town over $110,000 annually and more than $1,100,000 during its 10 year term.

Police to Begin Major Crackdown on Texting While Driving
The project, which is part of the “U Drive. U Text. U Pay.” campaign will begin Sept. 3 and run through Sept. 24. This effort by state and local police will enforce Connecticut’s tough law that prohibits motorists from texting and/or using hand-held cell phones while driving.

Federal Government Grants Westport's Exemption Request to Operate After School Bus Service
First Selectman Jim Marpe announced that late this afternoon he received notification from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) that it has approved Westport’s requested exemption to operate the Westport after-school shuttle service through December 31, 2014

"Phishing" scam email appears to be from Town of Westport
The Westport Police were advised by the First Selectman’s Office that a resident had received an email purportedly from the Town of Westport that is in reality a "phishing" scam.

BOS and Family Y agree to postpone Agenda items scheduled for August 27
At the request of the Family Y, the WPCA has agreed to postpone its scheduled review of the FAST System Operating Agreement and associated documents until a date in September. This is in order to provide the Y the additional time is needs to fully complete the required documentation.

New Update on Appeal for Exemption to the FTA's Ruling on After School Program Bus Service
The Norwalk Transit District has filed a formal request on Westport's behalf for an exemption to the FTA’s Regional Administrator asking that the pre-existing after-school service be allowed to continue until Jan 1, 2015.
