P&Z to hear text amendment at Nov. 6 meeting
Text Amendment #681 was submitted by the P&Z Commission as a technical correction to the excavation and fill regulations to allow an area of exemption around septic fields to be twenty five (25) feet instead of five (5) so that grading around septic fields will comply with the State Health Code.

Change your clock, change your batteries
The weekend of November 1- 2, is the end of Daylight Savings Time. The Westport Fire Department strongly urges everyone to "Change your clock, change your batteries." The most tragic loss of life is the one that could have easily been prevented with the installation of a new battery.

Domestic Violence Awareness Ceremony Scheduled for Oct. 30
First Selectman Jim Marpe has announced that activities relating to Domestic Violence Awareness Month will take place this week, culminating in a Proclamation ceremony at Town Hall on Oct. 30 at 1 p.m. The public is invited.

State Launches Ebola Website
The State of Connecticut has launched a website to keep residents informed regarding the Ebola virus. There will also be a hyperlink to the website on the homepages of all state agencies.

Construction Work Scheduled at Greens Farms Train Station
Construction at Greens Farms Train Station is scheduled to begin Oct. 23. The work will entail removal of the wooden steps that lead up from New Creek Road to the platforms on both sides of the tracks.

Make A Difference Day is on Saturday, Oct. 25. This is a national day of volunteerism where millions of people around the country come out to volunteer and give back. It is now in its nineteenth year.

"Drunk Driving Simulation" to be Held at Staples HS on Oct. 25
There will be a “Drunk Driving Simulation” at Staples High School on Saturday, Oct. 25 from 12-2 pm at the Staples High School Football Field. This is a one-day program presented by the Westport Police Department in collaboration with the Westport Police Youth Collaborative and the Teen Awareness Group.

Board of Selectman Accepts "Three Foot Law" Signs for Select Town Roadways
The BOS has unanimously accepted three “3 Feet Please” signs donated to the Town of Westport by the Sound Cyclists Bicycle Club. These signs publicize Connecticut’s three foot law, which requires that drivers allow at least three feet of separation when overtaking and passing cyclists.

Construction Alert - Greens Farms Road - 10/21 through 11/26
Greens Farms Road between Sherwood Island Connector and Hillspoint Road will be under construction from Oct. 21 through Nov. 26. There will be alternating one-way traffic during the daytime and raised structures in the road for the duration of construction.

Registrars of Voters Announce Office Hours and Voter Registration Deadlines
The Registrars of Voters office will be open Monday through Friday (except for holidays), from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for voter registration. The office will also be open on Saturday, Oct. 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Tuesday, Oct. 28, until 8 p.m. for special enrollment sessions.
