Parks and Rec Summer Program Registration begins Monday, March 16
Online spring and summer program registration will begin Monday, March 16, at 9 a.m. Walk in, fax and mailed registration, along with online, will then continue at the Parks and Recreation Office at Longshore beginning on Monday, March 23.

AARP/IRS Volunteer Tax Assistance Program now available
The no cost, full service AARP/IRS Volunteer Tax Assistance Program, with special attention to seniors and low to moderate income households, is again available to the community this year. Tax preparation and electronic filing of state and federal taxes will be offered at two locations until April 14.

Tonight’s scheduled Public Open House to discuss the draft Downtown Master Plan has been cancelled due to inclement weather conditions and potential for icing later today and this evening. The meeting will be postponed to a new date to be determined shortly.

Public Works Director Summarizes Westport Snow Plowing Policy
There are 123 miles of streets in the Town of Westport maintained by the Department of Public Works (DPW). Snow removal can cost up to $2500 per hour, therefore, it is important for the town to use its resources wisely with cooperation from the residents to provide the appropriate response while minimizing the cost.

Statement from First Selectman Marpe re: Blizzard Warning
A blizzard warning is in effect throughout Connecticut and is anticipated to heavily impact the area tonight through Tuesday. Safety is the utmost priority. If there is a power outage, repairs will be made when it is safe to do so. At the height of the storm, due to high winds and potential for impassable roads, CL&P will not send linemen to repair downed wires until it is safe to do so.

Yard Waste Site Reduced Winter Hours Effective Jan. 12
Effective Jan. 12, the Yard Waste Site located at 180 Bayberry Lane will operate under a winter hours schedule. The site will be open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday, and on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m.
