Downtown Steering Committee Receives Draft Downtown Master Plan
At a special work session held on Jan. 6, the RBA Group, consultants hired by the town to prepare a Downtown Master Plan, presented a draft of the Plan to the Downtown Steering Committee for formal review. The DSC had a chance to ask initial questions and submit comments to RBA.

The Cafeteria Challenge: 2015 TEAM Westport Annual Diversity Essay Contest
For the second year, TEAM Westport is sponsoring an essay contest for students in grades 9, 10, 11, and 12 who attend Staples High School or another school in Westport, or reside in Westport and attend school elsewhere. The Westport Library is co-sponsoring the contest.

Third Quarter Real Estate Taxes Due Jan. 1, 2015
Third quarter real estate taxes, personal property taxes, supplemental motor vehicle taxes and sanitary sewer use and assessment charges are due Jan. 1, 2015. Taxpayers have until Feb. 2, 2015 to pay taxes without penalty.

School Bus Parking Task Force Announced
The charge of the Task Force is to review alternative potential school bus parking arrangements and/or locations at both public and privately owned sites and to determine if it is possible to bring down the cost of parking in either the short or long term.

DPW Starts Annual Leaf Collection Program
Leaves will be collected from Nov. 3 through Dec. 1. Any leaves placed curbside during this period in biodegradable paper bags will be collected by Westport DPW. Leaves placed in plastic bags will not be picked up. Residents on private roads must place their bagged leaves at an intersecting town roadway.
