Soles4Soles Campaign at Westport Town Hall and Center for Senior Activities
The Soles4Souls Campaign is officially underway in Westport. Through the month of August, in-kind donations of serviceable shoes may be placed in the boxes located in the lobbies of Town Hall and the Center for Senior Activities.

Tree Warden Warns of Potential Insect Infestation
Several Eastern White Pines within the town right-of-way on Cross Highway were discovered to be infested with the Southern Pine Bark Beetle. The trees were immediately removed. The recently discovered beetles found in Westport are significant because they are the first confirmed case of SPB attacking Eastern White Pine in Connecticut

Toquet Hall Teen Center Accepting Governing Board Applications for 2015-2016 School Year
Toquet Hall, Westport’s Teen Center, is now accepting applications for new members on their middle school and high school governing boards for the 2015-2016 school year. The governing boards meet monthly throughout the school year to help plan programs and steer the look and feel of the substance-free teen center.

Black Bear Sighting Reported Near Charcoal Hill Road / Easton Road
This morning the Westport Police Department received two separate reports of a Black Bear in the Charcoal Hill Road and Easton Road sections of town. In both sightings the bear was moving through the area.

Petitions for RTM Candidates Available from Town Clerk's Office
Residents interested in running for the Representative Town Meeting (RTM) can pick up a petition at the Town Clerk’s office. Petitioners must gather 25 signatures from residents in their district to qualify to place their name on the ballot November 3. The completed petitions must be returned to the Town Clerk by Sept 8.

Human Services Announces "2015 Back to School Program"
The town’s 2015 “Back to School Program” will run from Monday, August 3 through Friday, August 7. This program offers gift cards to income-eligible families who have children in the Westport schools. The Back to School program depends solely upon the generosity of community individuals and organizations.

Fairfield Half Marathon Traffic Advisory for Sunday June 28
The Greens Farms area will be impacted by the running of the Fairfield Half Marathon on Sunday June 28. Runners will enter Westport on Greens Farms Road at the Fairfield town line, continuing to New Creek Road and on to Beachside Avenue before exiting into Southport.

Bear sightings along Merritt Parkway corridor
Westport Police received two separate reports from residents whose properties border the Merritt Parkway of two separate sightings of Black Bears. In both instances the bear was observed moving through the properties and did not act in an aggressive manner.

The Interfaith Clergy Association of Westport and Weston and TEAM Westport will hold an Interfaith Vigil for Charleston on Monday, June 22 at 7 p.m. on the lawn of Saugatuck Church.
