Film "The Good Lie" to be shown Wednesday, June 24 at Westport Women's Club
A free screening of the film, "The Good Lie" about the “Lost Boys” of Sudan will take place on Wednesday, June 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the Westport Woman’s Club. It will be followed by a talkback with the screenwriter, Margaret Nagle.

Hurricane Season Begins Monday, June 1
The hurricane season begins Monday, June 1 and runs through November 30. We urge every home and business to have an Emergency Plan and Basic Supply Kit in place now, before a severe weather event occurs.” said Chief Andrew Kingsbury of the Westport Fire Department.

Board of Selectmen Consent to New Restaurant at Inn at Longshore
The Board of Selectmen has voted unanimously to consent to the sublease providing for a first class restaurant at the Inn at Longshore. The Mediterranean style menu will be responsive to the food and atmosphere desires of today’s diners, including a specific golfers’ menu during the season. Due to substantial renovations necessary it is anticipated that the restaurant will open late 2015.

Southwest’s Career Coach will be in Westport June 11
On Thursday, June 11, the Coach will offer a beginner’s class in Access 2007 from 10 a.m. – noon, followed by an intermediate class in Access 2007 from 1 – 3 p.m.

Longshore Pool Opening Delayed Until June 20
Due to the severe winter season, the Longshore Pool renovation project will not be completed by Memorial Day Weekend. The opening date will be delayed until Saturday, June 20.

Community Conversation to be held at Library Sunday, May 17 at 4 p.m.
TEAM Westport in partnership with Westport Clergy and other town organizations and institutions today issued a Joint Statement in response to the recent “#White Lives Matter” flyer campaign. The group is also rolling out a number of initiatives over the next few months and will be hosting a Community Conversation at 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 17 at the Westport Library.

FEMA Award Granted to Replace Saugatuck Bridge
The Town of Westport has been awarded a FEMA grant to fully replace the Saugatuck Bridge. a wooden structure on Harbor Road leading to the Saugatuck Island community of Westport.

WWII Veteran Bruce M. Allen will be Memorial Day Grand Marshall
Bruce M. Allen, a Veteran of World War II, has been selected as the Grand Marshal for the Memorial Day Parade to be held on Monday, May 25 beginning at 9 a.m. on Riverside Avenue. Immediately following the Parade, memorial services will be held on Veterans Green.

2015 Memorial Day Theme will be "Thank You Veterans"
The 2015 Memorial Day float contest will be "Thank You Veterans.” On Memorial Day (Monday, May 25), the parade will begin on Riverside Avenue at 9 a.m. The Memorial Services will be on Veterans Green immediately following the parade.

Public Shred Day Scheduled for May 9
Westport will hold the seventh annual community shred day on Saturday, May 9, from 9 a.m. to noon. Residents may shred up to eight paper bags (bags recycle too), or three boxes (12 inches by 18 inches), per household. Each car will be charged $5.

Railroad Parking Permit & Wait List Announcements
The railroad permit waiting list is now available online. Those on the waiting list are required to update their information annually each January. Reminders will be sent out by email to update their information. Also, two different permits are now available.

First Selectman Marpe to Present Westport Town Flag to Team SNAP on April 20
First Selectman Jim Marpe will officially “hand off” the town flag to Team SNAP at Town Hall on April 20 at 3:30 p.m. The team will represent Connecticut at the World FIRST Lego League (“FLL”) World Festival to be held in St. Louis, MO April 22 - 25, 2015.

HDC announces Tax Credit Program Information Session on Saturday, April 25
The Historic District Commission will hold a public informational meeting on Saturday, April 25 at 10 a.m. in the Town Hall Auditorium to introduce the Connecticut Historic Homes Rehabilitation Tax Credit Program which begins July 1, 2015.
