P&Z Commission to Review Proposed Text Amendment at April 7 Meeting
Text Amendment #711 proposes expanding the list of incentives offered in support of historic preservation to include Lot Area and Lot Shape for non-conforming lots located in the Res AAA (2-acre) zoning district provided the property meets specific criteria outlined in the amendment.

Youth Commission Seeks Nominees For Community Service Award
The Westport Youth Commission is seeking nominations for the annual James S. Bacharach Service to the Community Award. All qualified high school seniors from Westport are eligible for this award. This honor, given to one or more high school seniors from Westport, recognizes their significant community service contributions.

No Animals Allowed on Beaches from April 1 - Sept. 30
Effective April 1, animals will not be permitted at Compo, Old Mill, and Burying Hill Beaches. Animals in or out of vehicles will not be allowed on any beach property which includes all grass, sand, and parking areas, except Soundview parking lot at Compo Beach, as well as the roads within the beach area.

Construction Alert for March 22 from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The town has approved the early morning construction activity and the closure of Church Lane from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22. Church Lane will be closed from its intersection at Elm Street to Post Road East for the delivery of construction material.

Greens Farms Volunteer Fire Company Will Hold Easter Egg Hunt March 26
Children will hunt for the eggs in age groups through age ten. Children finding special marked eggs will receive Easter baskets. The Easter bunny will be there to meet and greet the children.

Bedford Square Construction Crane to be Dismantled
The Bedford Square construction site crane will be dismantled beginning Monday, March 14. During this time, Elm Street wll be restricted to one lane but will remain open for access to businesses.

The Career Coach will be at Westport Town Hall on Thursday, March 10. The Coach will offer a beginner’s class in Word 2007 from 10 a.m. – noon, followed by an intermediate class in Word 2007 from 1 – 3 p.m.

First Selectman Announces Police Chief Dale Call’s Retirement
First Selectman Jim Marpe has announced that he has accepted the retirement letter of Chief of Police Dale Call effective April 1, 2016. After his official retirement date, Chief Call will remain with the Police Department in an advisory capacity until June 30, 2016.
