The Longshore swimming pool will open ON SCHEDULE on Saturday, May 28, 2016. For the holiday weekend (May 28-30), the hours of operation are 11 a.m. – 8 p.m.

ConnDot to hold Cribari Bridge Public Information Meeting on June 15
ConnDOT representatives will hold a Public Informational/Public Scoping Meeting on June 15 at 7 p.m. in the Town Hall Auditorium to discuss the findings of the Rehabilitation Study Report (“RSR”) related to the Saugatuck River Bridge (State Bridge # 01349), also known as the William F. Cribari Bridge.

Closures Announced for North Avenue Bridge - May 16 through May 31
The North Ave Bridge will be closed from 9 p.m. to approximately 5 a.m. for installation of the temporary support system and other construction activity.

First Selectman Announces Human Services Director Barbara Butler’s Retirement
Westport’s Human Services Director Barbara Butler has declared her intention to retire from that position effective June 30. Ms. Butler has been the Director of the department since 1989. Assistant Human Services Director Sarah Heath will be appointed Director effective July 1.

First Selectman Jim Marpe has announced that he will present a No Idling Proclamation to Staples High School’s Club Green students and members of Westport’s Green Task Force on Friday, May 13, at 4 p.m. in front of Town Hall. The public is invited.

DOT Announces Overnight Closures for North Avenue Bridge
From May 9 to May 12 the North Ave Bridge in Westport will be closed from 9 p.m. to approximately 5 a.m. to complete the concrete pour on the faces of the bridge.

2016 Memorial Day Float Theme Announced
The Westport Veterans Council has announced that the theme for the 2016 Memorial Day float contest will be “HONORING VETERANS NOW AND FOREVER.” There will be certificates awarded in the following categories: best development of theme, best youth organizational float, most creative, best community organization, most colorful, and the best overall float.

"Career Coach" Returns on May 12 with Excel Classes
On Thursday, May 12, the Coach will offer a beginner’s class in Microsoft Excel 2007 from 10 a.m. – noon, followed by an intermediate class in Excel from 1 – 3 p.m. Area residents interested in registering should contact the Westport Department of Human Services.

Applications Still Available for State and Local Tax Relief
The Westport Assessor’s Office and the Human Services Department are continuing to take applications for the State and Local Tax Relief programs. The application date for the Town and State Credit programs will run through Friday, May 13. The Town Deferral programs for Real Estate deferral will run through Friday, July 29 and Sewer deferral will run through Tuesday, Nov. 15.

Westport EMS will Present Two New Ambulances to the Town
The Westport Volunteer Emergency Medical Service (WVEMS) will present First Selectman Jim Marpe and the Town of Westport with the keys to two new state of the art ambulances for use by the town’s Emergency Medical Service on Thursday, April 28, at 11:30 am, in front of Town Hall.
