The Teen Awareness Group of Staples High School is seeking individuals with personal stories of how they have been impacted by impaired driving to be interviewed for its annual documentary.

TEAM Westport Announces Essay Contest Winners
When the members of the Town of Westport’s committee on diversity decided the topic for the group’s annual essay contest, they hoped to spark a vigorous discussion among the Connecticut community’s high schoolers. Instead, the topic “white privilege” elicited both positive and negative responses from around the country and the world, resulting in the largest number of submissions ever received in the history of the four-year contest.

P&Z to Review Zoning Amendments for Village District Overlay
The Planning & Zoning Commission reviewed two amendments at its public hearing on April 6. The first is a Text Amendment to the Westport Zoning Regulations; the second is a Map Amendment to the Westport Official Building Zone Map.

The Career Coach will be in Westport on Thursday, April 13
On Thursday, April 13 the Coach will offer a class in Social Networking for Job Search from 10 a.m. – noon, and from 1 – 3 p.m. This course will focus on the increasing necessity for an online presence to be a credible employment candidate in the current hiring environment.

Longshore Golf Course Opening date and Golf Course Website Announced
The anticipated opening date for the Longshore Golf Course is April 10, weather permitting. Golf Professional Jon Janik and Golf Course Superintendent Todd Salamone have been working hard to make sure the pro shop, staff, and course are ready for this new season.

Reminder: No Animals on the Beach April 1 - October 1
Effective April 1, animals will not be permitted at Compo, Old Mill, and Burying Hill Beaches. Animals in or out of vehicles will not be allowed on any beach property.

First Selectman Announces Management Changes in Human Services Department
The Director of Human Services Sarah Heath has resigned and the First Selectman has named Assistant Director Elaine Daignault to the position of Director of Human Services upon Ms. Heath’s effective date of departure. Ms. Heath has accepted a position in another town effective April 4.

Traffic Advisory for Sunday, March 26 at 12 p.m.
"A March to Defend Democracy" will be taking place this Sunday, March 26 at approximately 12 p.m. The march will begin at Jesup Green (Post Road East at Jesup Road) and continue east on the Post Road before turning left onto Myrtle Avenue and ending at Veteran’s Green.

Tax Collector Reminder: Fourth Quarter Taxes Due April 1
Fourth quarter real estate taxes, personal property taxes, and sanitary sewer use and assessment charges are due April 1, 2017. Taxpayers have until May 1, 2017 to pay taxes without penalty.
