Third Quarter Taxes Due Jan. 1, 2018
Third quarter real estate taxes, personal property taxes, supplemental motor vehicle taxes, and sanitary sewer use and assessment charges are due Jan. 1, 2018. Taxpayers have until Feb. 1, 2018 to pay taxes without penalty.

Hillspoint Road Northbound will be Closed Friday, Dec. 8 until 4 p.m.
The northbound lane of Hillspoint Road between Hillandale Road and Post Road East will be closed on Friday Dec. 8 from 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. so that the Aquarion Water Company can complete essential work along the route.

Bayberry Lane Bridge over the Aspetuck River Will Be Reduced to One-Lane
The Town of Westport will be reducing the Bayberry Lane Bridge over the Aspetuck River to alternating one-lane traffic in the near future. The State Inspection report has de-rated the outer beams of the bridge to the extent that full traffic loads are no longer allowed.

Police Launch 2017 Holiday Toy Drive
The Holiday Toy Drive provides toys for underprivileged children throughout Fairfield County and beyond. The program has been extremely successful in the past, allowing for thousands of toys to be distributed to children who otherwise would have none.

Public Works Department Extends 2017 Curbside Leaf Collection Program
The Department of Public Works has announced that the 2017 curbside leaf pickup program has been extended for two weeks, from Dec. 3 until Dec. 17, subject to continued good weather. Any leaves placed on the curbside during this period in biodegradable paper bags will be collected by DPW through Dec. 17, weather permitting

Holiday Giving Program Seeks Donations
The Department of Human Services annual Holiday Giving Program benefitting Westport residents is underway. The Human Services Department serves largely as a facilitator, allowing Westport residents who wish to give to do so, while protecting the confidentiality of both the donor and receiver.

First Selectman Announces Developments Regarding NEC Future Rail Plan
First Selectman Jim Marpe has announced important developments regarding the Northeast Corridor rail plan recently published by the Federal Railroad Administration . The NEC plan provides for a new high-speed rail line running from Washington D.C. to Boston, also passing through Westport.

The town is contemplating a project to replace the Bayberry Lane Bridge (#04969) over the Aspetuck River. The bridge replacement project would receive federal funds under the Federal Local Bridge Program administered by the Connecticut Department of Transportation

Pequot Runners Thanksgiving Day Road Race Schedule and Map
The Pequot Runners of Fairfield will be holding their 40th annual Thanksgiving Day five-mile road race on Thursday, Nov. 23. The race kicks off in Southport and will initially enter Westport town limits from Pequot Avenue/Beachside Avenue.

Veterans Day Services To Be Held Saturday, Nov. 11 at Town Hall
The Town of Westport will hold Veterans Day services on Saturday, Nov. 11 in the Town Hall auditorium. The public is invited. At 10:30 a.m., the Westport Community Band will present a “Patriotic Salute to All Veterans” program. The services will begin at 11 a.m. the time that the Treaty was signed to end World War I.

Transit District Launches New Campaign Highlighting Benefits of Riding Commuter Shuttles to and from local Train Stations
The Westport Transit District is launching a new campaign to inform Metro-North commuters about an app introduced this year that lets riders track the location of the WTD commuter shuttles so they can step out of their door shortly before a shuttle arrives.

Senior Center Open to Public Today as "Charging Center"
Human Services Director Elaine Daignault announced today that the Westport Center for Senior Activities, 21 Imperial Ave., will be open to the public as an officially designated “charging center” from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today.
