Petitions for RTM Candidates Available July 18
Residents interested in running for the Representative Town Meeting (RTM) can pick up a petition at the Town Clerk’s office, located in room 105 of Town Hall, beginning July 18. Petitioners must gather 25 signatures from residents in their district.

Registrars of Voters Announce Change to District 9 Polling Location
The District 9 polling place location will be changed to the Town Hall Auditorium, 110 Myrtle Avenue for the Nov. 7, 2017 Municipal Election. The change is due to the construction schedule for renovations to the Westport Library.

Greens Farms Area will be Impacted by Fairfield Half Marathon
The Greens Farms area will be impacted by the running of the Fairfield Half Marathon on Sunday, June 25. Runners will enter Westport on Greens Farms Road at the Fairfield town line, continuing to New Creek Road and on to Beachside Avenue before exiting into Southport.

“Town & Gown” Team Up to Help Save Children and Pets
Students Brandon Malin, Alison Green and Jordi Katz teamed-up recently to create heat safety signs for local parking lots. The signs alert drivers to the dangers of leaving children and pets in parked cars, as the cars can quickly become overheated.

First Selectman Jim Marpe announced that he signed the Statement of Principles supporting Mayors Against Illegal Guns: "The Mayors Against Illegal Guns Statement of Principles was established in 2006. Nearly five years ago, the senseless murder of 26 students and teachers at nearby Sandy Hook in Newtown caused all of us to react to the growing threat of gun violence and illegal guns.

Westport PAL Fireworks are sold out!
Tickets can be purchased at the Westport Police Department and the Westport Parks and Recreation Office. Ticket sales are limited and are on a first come-first served basis. Tickets are $35 per car (cash or check only) and once tickets are sold out, shuttle passes from Longshore will be available for purchase
