  • Longshore Golf Course Bunker Project to Begin Construction Tuesday, Sept. 12

    The construction phase of the Bunker Improvement project at Longshore Golf Course will begin Tuesday, Sept. 12. The project consists of the redesign, elimination and addition of bunkers for improved playability and maintenance, installation of bunker liners, and the installation of new sand.

  • Volunteer EMS Receives $35,000 Grant from Newman’s Own Foundation

    The Westport Volunteer Emergency Medical Service has been awarded a $35,000 grant from Newman’s Own Foundation, the independent foundation created by the late actor and philanthropist, Paul Newman. Newman’s Own Foundation made the award to celebrate 35 years since Paul Newman began the food company bearing his name. Westport Volunteer EMS is one of the original recipients of Newman’s generosity.

  • PaintCare Paint Recycling Now Available at the Westport Transfer Station

    Effective immediately, PaintCare, a no fee, Paint Recycling Program will be available to town residents at the Westport Transfer Station. Westport residents may take advantage of this program by bringing latex paint, oil-based paint, primer, stain, sealer, varnish and shellac (NO SPRAY PAINT) to the Westport Transfer station.

  • First Selectman Announces Management Change in Tax Collector’s Department

    First Selectman Jim Marpe has announced that he has appointed Deputy Tax Collector Harry Whiteley, Jr. to the position of Tax Collector effective immediately. Mr. Whitely assumes the role previously held by Peggy Klein, who retired on Sept. 1 after 30 years of service.

  • Town Announces New Director for Wakeman Town Farm

    Corey Thomas has been hired as the new Director of the town owned Wakeman Town Farm, located at 134 Cross Highway. Mr. Thomas holds a BS in Animal Science and an MA in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Connecticut.

  • Aquarion Water Company’s Myrtle Avenue Water Main Project Postponed Until Spring, 2018

    The Board of Selectmen voted unanimously at its August 23 meeting to revoke a permit for Aquarion installation project on Myrtle Avenue, which was scheduled to begin on August 28.

  • Lifeguard Schedule for Burying Hill Beach

    Effective immediately and through Sept. 4, there will be no lifeguards on duty at Burying Hill Beach from Monday through Friday each week. Lifeguards will be on duty from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays only and on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 4.

  • DPW Annual Roadway Crack Seal Program Begins August 16

    The Department of Public Works has scheduled the annual Roadway Crack Seal Program to commence on Wednesday, August 16. The work will occur daily for one week and perform maintenance on approximately seven to nine miles of various roadways throughout town.

  • Federal Rail Administration Announces Northeast Corridor Record of Decision

    The plan would appear to create a new rail corridor and right-of-way between New Rochelle, NY and Green’s Farms, CT, including a rail route through the Saugatuck area that connects with the existing Metro North right-of-way west of the Green’s Farms Station.
