CT DOT Announces Creation of Cribari Bridge Project Advisory Committee

The Career Coach Will Offer 2013 PowerPoint Classes in Westport on Thursday, July 12, 2018
The Career Coach is coming to Town Hall. On Thursday, July 12 the Coach will offer a beginner’s class in Microsoft PowerPoint 2013 from 10 a.m. – noon, followed by an intermediate class in PowerPoint 2013 from 1 – 3 p.m.

Summer Grill Safety
According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), two out of three households own a gas grill, and grilling causes an average of 8,900 home fires every year. The NFPA says failure to clean the grill is the leading factor in all grill structure fires, followed closely by the grill being placed too closely to something that could catch fire. And, gas grills are responsible for more fires than charcoal grills. Please read the guidelines after the jump.

Westport to Host United Nations Guests Saturday, June 23
The annual jUNe Day event will take place on Saturday, June 23, at Saugatuck Elementary School on Riverside Avenue at 10:30 a.m.in Westport. The United Nations Association of Southwestern Connecticut (UNASWCT) and the Town of Westport will host over 300 guests from the United Nations community in New York.

Bridge Street Listed on the National Register of Historic Places
On Wednesday, June 13, First selectman Jim Marpe and Historic District Commission (HDC) Chair Francis Henkels announced that the Bridge Street National Register District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places by the National Park Service on April 19, 2018.

Center for Senior Activities and Westport Library Open as Cooling Centers
The Westport Center for Senior Activities, 21 Imperial Ave., will be open to the public today (06/18) and tomorrow (06/19) as an officially designated “cooling center” from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Any questions, please contact the Center at 203-341-5099. Also, the air-conditioned Westport Public Library, 20 Jesup Road, welcomes visitors from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and tomorrow.

The Westport Police Department's Click It or Ticket Campaign a Success
The Westport Police Department brought seat belt awareness to area residents during its annual Click It or Ticket high-visibility seat belt enforcement campaign, held May 21st-June 3rd, writing a total of 37 citations for seat belt violations in the process.
