Work Slated to Begin on Improvement Project for Downtown Westport
Westport is proceeding with plans to implement improvements to its downtown commercial district this spring. The infrastructure project will be funded by a grant of $497,595 from the state’s Main Street Investment Fund.

First Selectman Marpe issues statement about trees at Longshore
First Selectman Marpe has issued a statement indicating his concurrence with the removal of the fifteen remaining original trees because of safety and other concerns. He noted that the decision was "extremely difficult one to make given the age and size of the trees, as well as their iconic presence"

Eastbound Saugatuck Railroad Station scheduled for reopening on Jan. 17
The eastbound Saugatuck Railroad Station will reopen to the public on Friday, Jan. 17, 2014. A ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled at noon. The station went through a major renovation last year.

Influenza activity is continuing to increase in Connecticut and has been classified as geographically widespread. The Westport Weston Health District has seen a significant increase in the local incidence of influenza activity.

Due to the water damage situation at Greens Farms Elementary School the Westport Republican Town Committee Caucus originally scheduled to be held there has been relocated to Town Hall.

First Selectman Announces Senior Center Open Today as Warming Center
The Westport Center for Senior Activities located at 21 Imperial Avenue is open to the community at large today as a “warming center” in view of the extreme cold temperatures. The Center will be open until 4:30 p.m.

Winter session of the Toquet Leadership Club scheduled for middle school students
The Toquet Leadership Club (TLC) will hold a winter session for Westport middle school students in grades 6 & 7. The 5 week program held will run on Wednesdays after school, 4 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. from Jan. 15 through Feb. 12, 2014.

Town to Light Christmas Tree on Dec. 4
Westport will light a Christmas tree at Town Hall on Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 5 p.m. After the tree lighting ceremony, the Westport Downtown Merchants Association kicks off the Holiday season with Celebrate the Season of Giving, a community-wide holiday party.
