Registrars of Voters Marla Cowden and Kevin White announced today that the Registrars of Voters Office in Westport Town Hall, 110 Myrtle Avenue, Room 107, will be open Monday through Friday (except holidays), from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM for voter registration.
August 9, 2018 is the deadline for the following registrations for the August 14, 2018 Democratic and Republican Gubernatorial Primaries:
- Mail-in registration (postmarked by) New Voters
- Mail-in party changes (received by) Unaffiliated Voters changing to Dem or Rep
- Online registrations or changes as above (available at: https://voterregistration.ct.gov)
August 13, 2018 at NOON in TOWN HALL is the deadline for New Voter IN-PERSON registrations and Unaffiliated Voter IN-PERSON changes to Dem or Rep.
Registered Democrats and Republican are eligible to vote in their respective primaries. Connecticut does not have an open primary system. Therefore, Unaffiliated registrants or those registered in other parties are not eligible to vote in the August 14, 2018 primaries. Democrats and Republicans switching between the two major parties, will not obtain party rights until after August 14, 2018 and therefore, will NOT be eligible to vote in the August Gubernatorial Primaries.
Voters should be aware that Connecticut does NOT allow Election Day Registration for primaries.
