'Play By the Rules' Teaches Middle Schoolers Civic Responsibility

The Westport Police Department and Westport Youth Services are teaming up again to bring a law and civic responsibility program, ”Play By The Rules,” to local students in grades 7 & 8. The fall session will take place on Wednesdays from 3:30pm-5pm beginning on October 3 and run through November 14. The program will be held at the Westport Police Department.
“Play By The Rules” is a promising award-winning program. It introduces youth to the principles of law developing their sense of civic responsibility and providing the tools needed to prevent crime, save lives, and build safer communities. This pilot session will focus on topics such as court systems and youth rights, police interactions, criminal definitions, bullying, and substance use
