50 Jesup Road Westport, CT 06880 Telephone: 203-341-6081 Call 911 For An Emergency |
Operating out of our centrally located Police/EMS Headquarters building with 3 state-of-the-art ambulances and 3 SUV fly-cars, WEMS responds to approximately 2400 calls per year. Our staff consists of 7 full-time paid employees, four of whom are Paramedics, and close to 100 volunteers; WEMS also contracts with Norwalk Hospital EMS to provide one Paramedic 24/7/365, also stationed in our Headquarters building.
In addition to 911-response in Westport, including two limited-access highways, we provide mutual aid for surrounding municipalities of Norwalk, Wilton, Weston, and Fairfield. We also provide standby coverage for sporting events and large-scale community activities within the Town of Westport, as well as to other communities as requested by their EMS services. Integral to these events is our bike team, our unique-in-Connecticut motorcycle unit, and our UTV all-terrain response unit.
As a division of the Town, Westport EMS bills for services. However, we work arm in arm with Westport Volunteer EMS, a separate 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose missions are to provide volunteers to staff our ambulances and to raise funds for the purchase of all capital equipment and supplies used by WEMS.
