Mission Statement and Charge
With the launch of the new Town of Westport Website, this Steering Committee fulfilled its mission and has been officially disbanded.
HISTORY:
The Town of Westport pursued redevelopment of the town website which had been in use since 2011. Since that time, there had been major changes in technology with mobile usage. The new website meets today’s needs for responsive design across devices, incorporates more functionality related to Town services and improves the “ease of use”.
This major undertaking for Westport’s Office of Information Technology, involved redesign, development, and external hosting of the new town website. The Town issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) to select and contract with a company (vendor) to design and implement a new website that is modern, highly attractive and in conformance with the latest standards.
The First Selectman assembled a town Website Redevelopment Steering Committee (the Committee) that participated in the process and offered guidance and oversight from vendor selection through website implementation and roll out. The Committee consisted of a group of highly experienced internal and external Information Technology professionals along with representatives of major town user departments and the RTM’s IT committee.
