Notice is hereby given that the Board of Selectmen, Traffic Authority and Water Pollution Control Authority will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at 8:30 a.m. in Room 309 of the Westport Town Hall for the following purpose(s):

1. To approve the minutes of the Board of Selectmen’s public hearing of November 26, 2014. 

2. To approve the use of the Imperial Avenue Parking Lot from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2015 (rain date January 11, 2015) for the Boy Scouts of America Christmas tree pick-up and recycling event, contingent upon compliance with “Procedures for Use of Town-Owned Property, Facilities and/or Public Roadways.”


3. To approve a waiver of the “Westport Policy on Encroachments on Town Property” as it relates to a fence located within the Town right–of-way at property known as 144 Newtown Turnpike, contingent upon compliance with the Town Engineer’s letter of November 19, 2014.

4. Upon the recommendation of the Human Services Director, to accept monetary gifts from community residents to the Town of Westport Human Services Department 2014 Holiday Program, in accordance with the “Policy for Gifts to the Town.”

5. Upon the recommendation of the Human Services Director, to approve the Memorandum of Understanding between Connecticut Light and Power Company (“CL&P”) and Yankee Gas and the Town of Westport as it relates to the completion of the 2014-2015 energy season processing for CL&P/Yankee Gas energy assistance applicants.

6. Upon the recommendation of the Town Tree Warden, to accept the donation of 52 trees, valued at $16,765, from Planter’s Choice Nursery, LLC, in accordance with the “Policy for Gifts to the Town.”   

7. Upon the recommendation of the Parks & Recreation Commission, to approve the fees for the 2015 Parks and Recreation programs, facilities and activities.

8. Acting in its capacity as the Traffic Authority, to review and approve installation of five (5) “No Parking” signs on Morningside Drive North in connection with the mixed-use redevelopment of property known as 1135 Post Road East (a/k/a Geiger’s), contingent upon compliance with comments from all relevant Town departments.

9. Acting in its capacity as the Traffic Authority, to approve the temporary closure of the Ruth Steinkraus Cohen Bridge (CT Route 1/Post Road) on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 from 9:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. for the First Night Westport/Weston pyrotechnic display, contingent upon compliance with directives from the Westport Police and Fire Departments, and further contingent upon receipt of all necessary permits and approvals from the Connecticut Department of Transportation, State Police Department of Fire and Explosives Pyrotechnics (Fireworks) and the Westport Fire Marshal. 

10. Acting in its capacity as the Water Pollution Control Authority, to approve a residential sanitary sewer connection at property known as 18 Long Lots Road, contingent upon compliance with the WPCA Coordinator’s letter of November 20, 2014.

11. Acting in its capacity as the Water Pollution Control Authority and in accordance with C.G.S. §7-246a, the following application will be “received,” subject to determination of completeness*:

A. Application submitted by Redniss & Mead for approval to expand the capacity of the existing sanitary service use to accommodate the proposed mixed-use redevelopment at 1135 Post Road East (a/k/a Geiger’s). **

*Applications deemed incomplete will not be considered “received.”

**A public hearing on this application will not be opened at this time and will be scheduled for a subsequent date.
