WESTPORT BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE MINUTES
March 2, 2011
Present: Angela Trucks, Nancy Carr, Bob Weiss, Mitzi Lyman, Betty Lou Cummings, Debra Kandrak, Claire Ford, Barbara Levy, Wynn Herrmann, Susan Loselle
Minutes: The minutes from the meeting of February 9, 2011 were approved.
Treasurer’s Report: Bob Weiss reported we have $8,325. After paying New England Nursery and donating to Baskets on Main, we will be left with about $1,500.
Clean-up Day: It is scheduled for April 16th and our committee will meet at 9:00 at Jesup Green.
Adopt-A-Spot: Mitzi Lyman will send a copy of the letter to the editor that appeared in the Westport News to the organizations that maintain these spots.
Baskets on Main: Our committee will donate $500 toward watering.
Re-Greening/Median: Linda Adelman will meet with Dave Hawthorne and the “uptown merchants.” A tree in front of Calise’s was uprooted and needs to be replaced.
Re-Greening/Trees: Wynn Herrmann will “scout out” bare areas for new trees.
Bridge Garden Restoration Project: Angela Trucks has received two sets of plans. If it is necessary she will set up a special meeting to review these and other plans received before forwarding them on.
New Business: Debra Kandrak suggested the idea of a town Christmas tree and menorah lighting in front of town hall. Angela Trucks and Nancy Carr will be setting up a meeting with Gordon Joseloff and will include this topic in their agenda.
Barbara Levy reported that the Westport Women’s Club is interested in contributing money to our committee for a project.
The meeting began at 4:00 and was adjourned at 4:50.
Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at 4:00pm in Room 201 of the Town Hall.
