WESTPORT BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE MINUTES April 6, 2011
Present: Angela Trucks, Nancy Carr, Bob Weiss, Betty Lou Cummings, Debra Kandrak, Claire Ford, Barbara Levy, Wynn Herrmann, Linda Adelman, Kathy Groener, Susan Loselle Guest: Mary Lee Clayton
Minutes: The minutes from the meeting of March 2, 2011 were approved.
Treasurer’s Report: We have $2,345.00.
Clean-up Day: It is scheduled for April 16th and our committee will meet at 9:00 at Jesup Green. We are considering doing clean-up day twice a year. Stuart McCarthy will be contacted to get feedback from the other groups involved.
Baskets on Main: Our committee will donate $500 toward the purchase of plants.
Re-Greening/Median: Linda Adelman will call Ann from Daybreak to replace the cherry tree. The committee discussed that color was needed on the median. Ann will be asked to give us suggestions that we will discuss at the next meeting.
Re-Greening/Trees: Wynn Herrmann reminded us that in the fall we will need money for planting and watering.
Bridge Garden Restoration Project: We have received plans and estimates for this project. We will potentially solicit various groups for funding including the garden division of the Women’s Club who have expressed an interest in contributing to a project.
Holiday Lighting: It was discussed that we need more information before we can proceed such as what do other towns do, cost of lighting, etc. Debra Kandrak will research and also contact the Downtown Merchants.
The meeting began at 4:00 and was adjourned at 5:05.
Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at 4:00 pm in Room 201 of the Town Hall.
