Notice & Agenda

Notice is hereby given that the Board of Selectmen, Traffic Authority and Water Pollution Control Authority will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at 4 p.m. in Room 309 of the Westport Town Hall for the following purpose(s):

1. To take such action as the meeting may determine to approve the minutes of the Board of Selectmen’s public hearing of Dec. 12, 2012; and to approve the minutes of the Water Pollution Control Authority’s public hearing of Dec. 12, 2012.

2. To take such action as the meeting may determine to approve the acceptance of a monetary gift from Dean Cleaners of Westport to the Human Services Department’s Families in Need/Hurricane Sandy escrow fund, in accordance with the Policy for Gifts to the Town, as amended Oct. 28, 1998.

3. To take such action as the meeting may determine to approve the acceptance of monetary gifts from local residents, schools and organizations to the Human Services Department’s 2012 Holiday Family program, in accordance with the Policy for Gifts to the Town, as amended Oct. 28, 1998.

4. To take such action as the meeting may determine to approve the use of town-owned property known as Jesup Green, Taylor parking lot and Toquet Hall by CLASP Homes, Inc. for the Westport Mini Maker Faire on Saturday, April 27, 2013, contingent upon compliance with comments from various town departments including the Westport/Weston Health District and in accordance with the Procedures for Use of Town-owned Property, Facilities and/or Public Roadways.

5. To take such action as the meeting may determine to approve the use of town-owned property known as Imperial Avenue parking lot by the Spin Odyssey organization for the 2013 SpinOdyssey event on Sunday, May 5, 2013 with the set up on Saturday, May 4, 2013, contingent upon compliance with comments from various town departments including the Westport/Weston Health District and in accordance with the Procedures for Use of Town-owned Property, Facilities and/or Public Roadways.

6. To take such action as the meeting may determine, acting in its capacity as the Traffic Authority, to approve and recommend to the State Department of Transportation changing the 15-minute parking zone to a one-hour parking zone in the area of 154 Post Road East to Bay Street which is consistent with timed parking zone along Post Road East in the downtown area.

7. To take such action as the meeting may determine to approve a waiver of the Westport Driveway Ordinance, Sec. 50-340, for the Post Plaza Shopping Center, contingent upon compliance with the Town Engineer’s letter of Jan. 2, 2013.

8. To take such action as the meeting may determine to approve the award of a three-year contract to M&M Tennis Court Company, Inc. for the reconditioning of the facing of the nine Har-Tru tennis courts at Longshore Park, as recommended by the Parks & Recreation Department.

9. To take such action as the meeting may determine to approve tennis instruction fees as recommended by the Parks & Recreation Commission and as below:

Current Proposed

Youth $8/hr. $10/hr.
Adult $10/hr. $13/hr.

10. To take such action as the meeting may determine to accept a petition from the residents of Big Pines Road for an extension of the existing water main on Weston Road, and further to authorize the Public Works Department to proceed with the extension of the water main to service the Big Pines Road neighborhood.

11. To take such action as the meeting may determine, acting in its capacity as the Water Pollution Control Authority, to approve a supplemental sanitary sewer connection at property known as 6 Green Acre Lane, contingent upon compliance with the WPCA Coordinator’s letter of Jan. 2, 2013.

12. To take such action as the meeting may determine to set a public hearing to consider proposed assessments and to determine final assessments to be levied for the construction or acquisition of a sewerage system affecting supplemental sanitary sewer connections approved during 2012.
