Notice & Agenda

Notice is hereby given that the Westport Board of Selectwomen, Traffic Authority, and Water Pollution Control Authority will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at 9:00 AM in the Westport Town Hall Auditorium, 110 Myrtle Avenue, Westport, Connecticut. It will be livestreamed on www.westportct.gov and broadcast on Westport’s Optimum Government Access Channel 79 and Frontier Channel 6020. Comments from the public regarding agenda items may be sent to selectwoman@westportct.gov prior to the meeting. Agenda to include but not be limited to the following items (subject to revision):

1. To take such action as the meeting may determine to approve the minutes of the Board of Selectwomen’s and Water Pollution Control Authority’s meeting of February 22, 2023.

2. As the Traffic Authority, to take such action as the meeting may determine, to review and approve the request to establish additional intersection control on the town roadway known as West Parish Road at its intersection with Hillandale Road; to approve the installation of (i) multi-way STOP sign(s), (ii) supplemental ALL WAY plaques, and (iii) STOP AHEAD signs on West Parish Road and Hillandale Road at appropriate locations in advance of the proposed STOP signs.

3. As the Traffic Authority, to take such action as the meeting may determine to approve the request from the Westport Downtown Association for the closure of the Town-owned roadway known as Church Lane from Saturday, April 1, 2023 to Monday, November 6, 2023, and further, to approve the use of the Town sidewalk adjacent to Church Lane on certain Fridays and Saturdays for the Summer Music Series, contingent upon compliance with recommendations from Town departments and in accordance with Procedures for Use of Town-owned Property, Facilities and/or Public Roadways. 

4. As the Traffic Authority, to take such action as the meeting may determine to approve the request from the Westport Downtown Association for the closure of (i) Main Street from Post Road East to Elm Street; (ii) the portion of Elm Street from Main Street to 35 Elm Street; and (iii) the Sigrid Schultz Plaza, from 6:00 AM Friday, May 26, 2023 (set up) to 10:00 PM Sunday, May 28, 2023 (breakdown) for the Fine Arts Festival, contingent upon compliance with recommendations and from Town departments and in accordance with Procedures for Use of Town-owned Property, Facilities and/or Public Roadways. 

5. To take such action as the meeting may determine to approve the request from the Westport Downtown Association for the use of town-owned sidewalks for local merchants’ displays for Sidewalk Sales on Friday, June 23 through Sunday, June 25, 2023, contingent upon compliance with recommendations from Town departments and in accordance with Procedures for Use of Town-owned Property, Facilities and/or Public Roadways. 

6. As the Traffic Authority, to take such action as the meeting may determine to approve the request from the Westport Downtown Association for the closure of a portion of the Town roadway known as Elm Street and the closure of the Town Property known as Sigrid Schultz Plaza from Friday, October 13, 2023 (set up) through Sunday, October 15, 2023 (breakdown) for the Westport Downtown Association’s Westoberfest – New England Craft Beer Festival and Family Event scheduled for Saturday, October 14, 2023, contingent upon compliance with recommendations from Town departments and in accordance with Procedures for Use of Town-owned Property, Facilities and/or Public Roadways. 

7. To take such action as the meeting may determine, upon the recommendation of the Tax Collector and in accordance with C.G.S. Sec. 12-129, to approve the refunds of overpayments of 2020 and 2021 Grand List Sewer Use Charge(s) and Motor Vehicle taxes, as presented.

8. To take such action as the meeting may determine to approve the Amendment to Street Light Maintenance and Repair Services Agreement between the Town of Westport and RealTerm Energy US Services, L.P. 

9. To take such action as the meeting may determine to approve the Agreement between the Town of Westport and Blue Earth Compost, Inc. for food waste collection and transportation to licensed composting facility.

10. To take such action as the meeting may determine to approve the award of Sanitary Sewer Contract #73 Bid No. 23-069T. 

11. To take such action as the meeting may determine to approve the award of Sanitary Sewer Contract #75 Bid No. 23-068T.  

12. As the Water Pollution Control Authority, to schedule a date to consider proposed assessments and to determine final assessments to be levied for the construction or acquisition of sewerage system(s) approved during 2022 (proposed date: April 12, 2023).
