WESTPORT HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION
LEGAL NOTICE AND AGENDA
Notice is hereby given that the Westport Historic District Commission will hold a public hearing at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday April 9, 2019, in Town Hall Room 201/201A for the following purposes:
I. PUBLIC HEARING
1.For the proposed establishment of 15 Hyatt Lane as a Local Historic Property:
The property located in the Town of Westport, County of Fairfield and State of Connecticut, as shown in the study report for the proposed Local Historic Property designation for 15 Hyatt Lane, Westport, Connecticut, prepared by Heritage Resources, dated December 2018.
The purpose of the public hearing is to review a request to designate 15 Hyatt Lane a Local Historic Property and to accept the study report reviewed by the State Historic Preservation Council and the Westport Planning and Zoning Commission.
The notice will be published in the Westport News twice, first on Friday, March 29, 2019 and second on Friday, April 5, 2019. A copy of the study report, the proposed ordinance, a map showing the boundaries of the real property to be included in the proposed historic property, and recommendations and comments from the State Historic Preservation Council and the Planning and Zoning Commission can be viewed in the Town Clerk’s Office or the Historic District Commission Office.
2.For the proposed establishment of 39 Cross Highway as a Local Historic Property:
The property located in the Town of Westport, County of Fairfield and State of Connecticut, as shown in the study report for the proposed Local Historic Property designation for 39 Cross Highway, Westport, Connecticut, prepared by Heritage Resources and the Historic District Commission, dated January 2019.
The purpose of the public hearing is to review a request to designate 39 Cross Highway a Local Historic Property and to accept the study report reviewed by the State Historic Preservation Council and the Westport Planning and Zoning Commission.
The notice will be published in the Westport News twice, first on Friday, March 29, 2019 and second on Friday, April 5, 2019. A copy of the study report, the proposed ordinance, a map showing the boundaries of the real property to be included in the proposed historic property, and recommendations and comments from the State Historic Preservation Council and the Planning and Zoning Commission can be viewed in the Town Clerk’s Office or the Historic District Commission Office.
3.To hear the Chair’s report and update on current HDC activities.
4.To approve the minutes of the March 12, 2019 public hearing.
5.To take such action as the meeting may determine to broaden the scope of the HDC study subcommittee formed on October 9, 2018, which was formed to consider a proposed Canal Street National Register Historic District and/or a Canal Street Local Historic District, to include consideration of the proposed Lee’s Canal National Register District and the proposed Richmondville Avenue State Historic District.
6.To review and act on a Certificate of Appropriateness application dated January 9, 2019 for the proposed installation of a grave monument at 6 Violet Lane located in the Violet Lane Local Historic District.
7.To review and act on a Certificate of Appropriateness application dated April 9, 2019 for the proposed installation of a walk gate at 39 Kings Highway North located in the Kings Highway Local Historic District.
8.To review and comment on proposed signage and exterior retractable awnings for The Meatball Shop, located at 2 Post Road West in National Hall Historic Design District. Comments offered at the meeting will be considered in anticipation of further zoning review and approvals.
9.To review and comment on Planning and Zoning Transmittals for the proposed Site Plan, Landscape Plan and Building Plans for 20 & 26 Morningside Drive South located in the 20 & 26 Morningside Drive South Local Historic District. Comments offered at the meeting will be considered in anticipation of further zoning review and approvals.
10.To take such action as the meeting may determine to oppose the issuance of the demolition permit at 35 Danbury Avenueand require the full 180-day delay.
11.To take such action as the meeting may determine to oppose the issuance of the demolition permit at 1 Quentin Road and require the full 180-day delay.
12.To take such action as the meeting may determine to oppose the issuance of the demolition permit at 11 Brookside Drive and require the full 180-day delay.
13.To take such action as the meeting may determine to oppose the issuance of the demolition permit at 18 Surf Road and require the full 180-day delay.
14.To take such action as the meeting may determine to oppose the issuance of the demolition permit at 1830 Post Road East and require the full 180-day delay.
15.To take such action as the meeting may determine to oppose the issuance of the demolition permit at 20 Wood Hill Road and require the full 180-day delay.
16.To take such action as the meeting may determine to oppose the issuance of the demolition permit at 15 Brookside Drive and require the full 180-day delay.
II. WORK SESSION
(The following items will be discussed and voted on as time permits. The Public may observe the work session, but not participate)
1.For the HDC study subcommittee to review and evaluate the proposed (a) Canal Street National Register District, (b) Canal Street Local Historic District, (c) Lee’s Canal National Register District, and (d) Richmondville Avenue State Historic District.
Please note this agenda may be amended to include possible revisions which will be posted in the Town Clerk’s Office and on the Town Meeting Calendar.
