Historic District Commission Notice of Decision

NOTICE OF DECISION
  
Notice is hereby given that at public hearing held on October 9, 2018, the Westport Historic District Commission took the following actions:


1. APPROVED:  Lincoln Street-Riverside Avenue Study Report dated June 25, 2018 as amended.  The amended report will be forwarded to the Town Clerk for balloting and RTM consideration. Unanimously approved by a vote 5 yes (Henkels, Gerber, Braun, Harding, Freedman)


2. DENIED: The removal of 37 Lincoln Street from the boundary of the proposed Lincoln Street-Riverside Avenue Local Historic District. Unanimously denied by a vote 5 no (Henkels, Gerber, Braun, Harding, Bliss)


3. APPROVED: The removal of 62 Riverside Avenue from the boundary of the proposed Lincoln Street-Riverside Avenue Local Historic District. Unanimously approved by a vote 5 yes (Henkels, Gerber, Braun, Harding, Freedman)


4. APPROVED:  Certificate of Appropriateness Application dated September 27, 3018 for the installation of two fences at 24 Evergreen Avenue located in the Evergreen Avenue Local Historic District.  Unanimously approved by a vote 5 yes (Henkels, Gerber, Braun, Harding, Weingarten.


5. APPROVED MOTION TO TAKE NO ACTION:  The members voted 4 yes (Gerber, Weingarten, Harding, Braun) and 1 no (Henkels) that a Certificate of Appropriateness dated September 20, 2018 for the installation of a specific stone monument at 6 Violet Lane located in the Violet Lane Local Historic District was not required. 


6. APPROVED:  The members supported the creation of a subcommittee of members to research the history of the Canal Street area for the establishment of a proposed local historic district or a National Register nomination study and gauge the support of property owners. Approved by a vote of 4 yes (Henkels, Gerber, Braun, Weingarten) and 1 no (Harding).


7. APPROVED:  The members supported the creation of a study subcommittee of members to prepare the study report for the proposed local historic property designation at 39 Cross Highway identified on the Historic Resources Inventory.  Approved unanimously by a vote of 5 yes (Henkels, Gerber, Braun, Harding, Weingarten).


8. DENIED:  The members were not opposed to the issuance of a demolition permit at 15 Weston Road by a unanimous no vote (Henkels, Gerber, Braun, Harding, and Weingarten).


9. DENIED:  The members were not opposed to the issuance of a demolition permit at 4 Sue Terrace by a unanimous no vote (Henkels, Gerber, Braun, Harding, and Weingarten).




The above items are on file in the Historic District Commission Office in Town Hall at 110 Myrtle Avenue.
