LEGAL NOTICE AND AGENDA

Notice is hereby given that the Westport Historic District Commission will hold a public hearing on Tuesday,
September 11, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. in Town Hall Room 309/307 for the following purposes:
1.For the Proposed Establishment of the Cable’s Landing Extension Kings Highway North Local Historic District which will include:
All properties located in the Town of Westport, County of Fairfield and State of Connecticut, as shown in the study report for proposed Cable’s Landing Extension Kings Highway North Local Historic District, Westport, Connecticut, prepared by Rachel Carley, Historic Preservation Consultant, dated March 2018, and currently known as:
The purpose of the public hearing is to review a request to include the above properties within the proposed Cable’s Landing Extension Kings Highway North Local Historic District and to accept the study report reviewed by the State Historic Preservation Council and the Westport Planning and Zoning Commission.
The notice will be published in the Westport News twice, first on Friday, August 31, 2018 and second on Friday, September 7, 2018. A copy of the study report and comments from the State Historic Preservation Council and the Planning and Zoning Commission can be viewed at the Town Clerk’s Office or the Historic District Commission Office.
2.To hear the Chair’s report and update on current HDC activities.
3. To approve the minutes of the August 14, 2018 meeting.
4.To take such action as the meeting may determine to approve a Certificate of Appropriateness Application dated July 10, 2018 for the proposed installation of posts for string lighting at 90 Post Road East (Old Town Hall) located in the Jesup Road Historic District.
5.To take such action as the meeting may determine to approve a Certificate of Appropriateness Application dated July 27, 2018 for the proposed demolition of the Charles Sherwood/George Hughes House (main house), c.1853/1938, at 26 Morningside Drive South located in the 20 and 26 Morningside Drive South Local Historic District.
6.To take such action as the meeting may determine to oppose the issuance of the demolition permit at 26 Morningside Drive South (main house), c. 1853/1938, located in the 20 and 26 Morningside Drive South Local Historic District.
7.To take such action as the meeting may determine to approve a Certificate of Appropriateness Application dated July 27, 2018 for the demolition of the shed at 26 Morningside Drive South located in the 20 and 26 Morningside Drive South Local Historic District.
8.To take such action as the meeting may determine to oppose the issuance of the demolition permit for the shed at 26 Morningside Drive South located in the 20 and 26 Morningside Drive South Local Historic District.
9.To take such action as the meeting may determine to approve a Certificate of Appropriateness Application dated July 27, 2018 for the demolition of the studio at 20 Morningside Drive South located in the 20 and 26 Morningside Drive South Local Historic District.
10.To take such action as the meeting may determine to oppose the issuance of the demolition permit for the studio at 20 Morningside Drive South, located in the 20 and 26 Morningside Drive South Local Historic District.
11.To take such action as the meeting may determine to approve a Certificate of Appropriateness Application dated August 17, 2018 for the proposed installation of a stake for flood related safety reasons at 6 Violet Lane located in the Violet Lane Local Historic District.
12.To take such action as the meeting may determine to approve a Certificate of Appropriateness Application dated August 28, 2018 for the proposed relocation and reconstruction of the garage and driveway at 80 Wright Street located in the Kings Highway North Local Historic District.
13.To take such action as the meeting may determine to oppose the issuance of the demolition permit at 9 Fresenius Road and require the full 180-day delay.
14.To take such action as the meeting may determine to oppose the issuance of the demolition permit at 11 Little Fox Lane and require the full 180-day delay.
15.To take such action as the meeting may determine to oppose the issuance of the demolition permit at 8 Allen Raymond Lane and require the full 180-day delay.
16.To take such action as the meeting may determine to oppose the issuance of the demolition permit at 14 Hilltop Trail and require the full 180-day delay.
WORK SESSION
17.To discuss policy and procedures as they relate to proposed designations and the proposed establishment of a town regulation to address historic properties that are identified as unsafe, damaged or purposefully neglected.
18.To review nomination list and select annual preservation award recipients.
