TO DISCUSS (2) PROPOSALS FOR THE STATE OF CT, DPT OF HOUSING

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT

FY 17 CT Department of Housing Small Cities Program

The Town of Westport will hold a public hearing announcing a grant proposal to the Connecticut Department of Housing (DOH) for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program Services, Public Service Set Aside FY 17 to fund Diversion Specialists employed throughout the Fairfield County Coordinated Network Area for shelter diversion.  This program supplements DOH’s existing efforts to end homelessness in Connecticut.

The Town of Westport anticipates applying for a FY 17 grant amount up to $430,000 under the eligible activity of public services by April 6, 2018.

FY 18 CT Department of Housing Small Cities Program

In addition, the Town of Westport will hold a public hearing to propose submitting two (2) grant applications by May 30th, 2018 to the Connecticut DOH Program Services Set Aside FY 18 for the following eligible activity:

(2) Public Service:

  • Diversion Specialists – Up to $430,000
  • Short-term Crisis Housing for Young Adults – Up to $50,000

The purpose of these public hearings is to provide a clear explanation of the proposed programs and to give an opportunity for citizens to present their views on the Town’s needs and development priorities concerning assistance to low and moderate income persons in the community.

All interested citizens are invited to attend these public hearings.  If you are unable to attend the public hearings, you may direct written comments to the Town of Westport, Human Services Department, 110 Myrtle Avenue Rm. 200, Westport CT, 06880 or you may telephone (203) 341-1050. In addition, information can be obtained at the above address between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on weekdays.

The Town of Westport promotes fair housing and makes all programs available to low- and moderate-income households regardless of race, creed, color, national origin, ancestry, sex, gender identity or expression, marital status, age, lawful source of income, familial status, learning disability or physical/mental disability, or sexual orientation. The hearing is accessible to the handicapped. Any disabled persons requiring special assistance or non-English speaking persons should contact Eileen Lavigne Flug, ADA Coordinator at (203) 341-1043 at least five days prior to the hearing.
