WESTPORT HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION
LEGAL NOTICE AND AGENDA
Notice is hereby given that the Westport Historic District Commission will hold a public hearing at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 in Town Hall Room 201/201Afor the following purposes:
PUBLIC HEARING
1.To hear the Chair’s report and update on current HDC activities.
2.To approve the minutes of the August 9, 2016 public hearing.
3.To take such action as the meeting may determine to accept the final study report for the proposed Saugatuck River Swing Bridge Local Historic District designation which includes the Saugatuck River Swing Bridge (State Bridge No. 01349) also known as the William F. Cribari Memorial Bridge which carries Route 136 over the Saugatuck River, and the state owned abutting properties on the east and west side of the bridge.
The Commission will review the comments and recommendations from the State Historic Preservation Office and the Westport Planning and Zoning Commission, will hear public comment, and will vote to accept the study report for the proposed local historic district designation.
The notice will be published in the Westport News twice, first on Friday, September 2, 2016 and second on Friday, September 9, 2016. A copy of the study report and comments from the State Historic Preservation Council and the Planning and Zoning Commission can be viewed at the Town Clerk’s Office or the Historic District Commission Office.
4.To take such action as the meeting may determine to approve a Certificate of Appropriateness Application for the replacement of the existing sidewalk on the westerly side of Main Street between 251 Main Street and 311 Main Street.
5.To take such action as the meeting may determine to approve a Certificate of Appropriateness Application for the installation of a new concrete sidewalk on Main Street fronting Veterans’ Green.
6.To take such action as the meeting may determine to consider the request by the original petitioner to withdraw his petition to designate the Nike Missile Radar Site at 182 Bayberry Lane as a local historic property.
7.To take such action as the meeting may determine to consider the amendments to the Nike Missile Radar Site Study Report as recommended by the RTM and return an amended report to the RTM.
8.To take such action as the meeting may determine to consider the request by the original petitioners to withdraw their petition to designate 68, 70, and 72 Compo Road South (Golden Shadows and accessory buildings) as a local historic property.
9.To take such action as the meeting may determine to recommend to the Building Official that the balance of delay period for a demolition permit at 14 Westport Avenue be waived.
10.To take such action as the meeting may determine to recommend to the Building Official that the balance of delay period for a demolition permit at 82 Compo Mill Cove be waived.
