(This is an ad hoc administrative committee established by the Superintendent per
Board Policy 1312.1 and Regulation 1312.1 for the purpose of reviewing a complaint regarding certain books in the Staples High School library.)
NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING
REVISED AGENDA
(Agenda Subject to Modification in Accordance with Law)
WORK SESSION
Given that this matter is not before the Board of Education and the role of this committee pursuant to Regulation 1312.1 (see also Regulation 6161) is to “render an evaluative judgment and recommendation” to the Superintendent, there will not be an opportunity for public comment at this meeting. If the Superintendent’s disposition is appealed to the Board of Education, the Board may permit public comment at that time in accordance with established Board of Education policy and practice.

DISCUSSION AND ACTION:
1. Discuss the hearing previously conducted with the parties to the complaint regarding the following books: Flamer, Gender Queer,
and This Book is Gay.
2. Develop an evaluative judgment and recommendation for consideration by the Superintendent of Schools Elaine Whitney, SRC Chair
