WESTPORT SHELLFISH COMMISSION

Notice is hereby given that a meeting of the Westport Shellfish Commission is scheduled for 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 in Room 309 of the Westport Town Hall, 110 Myrtle Avenue to take such action as the meeting may determine regarding the following:
1. Approval of February 1, 2012 meeting minutes.
2. Treasurer’s Report
3. Police Report
4. Recreational Shellfish Report
5. New Business
a. Discussion with Brian Cilento on possible uses for and access to oyster ground operations for oyster growing business upon vacant lots 71 and 96 on Comp Mill Cove located between town-owned tidegates.
b. Discussion with Staples science teacher, Cecilia Duffy, regarding ideas for encouraging greater student involvement in local shellfishing activities
c. 2012 Vendor Agreement with Westport Outfitters for permit issuance.
d. Election of officers

a. Confirmation of changes to 2012 meeting calendar
b. Consideration of possible public clam dig
c. Review of draft letter of support for more staff for the Dept of Agriculture/Bureau of Aquaculture and allowance for use of more certified labs for water quality testing so that water and meat sampling can be done in a timely manner to facilitate quicker reopenings.
